Setting up foreman for mud racing

Setting up foreman for mud racing

Postby TrailMaker on Thu Oct 02, 2008 8:22 pm

Need unbias info. I am trying to help my nephew get his foreman set up for mud racing. His name is John Elwood, he raced 9-27 & loved it. His B-day is next week and we are trying to get him hooked up. We have determined he is going to need a set of outlaws but we are not sure what size. Maybe a lift with some taller tires. Would like to try to set it up ideal the first time. I know a lot of it is probably trial & error, thats why i'm askin' people that are in this sport for input. His bike is stock except snorkel & 27" mudwiesers that didn't do so good in the pit. Thanks, Dan

Dan like you said alot of it is trial and error. I would say no larger than 28 inch outlaws. I really feel like the 29.5 will kill the power. If you wanna go all out I can give you a list. Outlaws are a must! 27 or 28 inch, make sure you get the skinnies front and rear. If you wanna go all out you can get a set of crush locks too! They are not good for trail ridin though, strictly for the pit. Also I would check into the gear reduction for it, the more umph the better! Also a pipe and jet kit if it is carb, if efi maybe a programmer. Just ideas man, I am not to familiar with the hondas, but the concept is the same!

I hope he does. That weekend is my younger nephews B-day. So not sure if he will be able to go or not yet.

hey trailmaker take that foreman and take as much weight off of it as possiable and then add weight to the front of it as accordingly to pits. gear reduction, clutch kit, exhaust and jet it properly and run some 28x9.5 laws and he would do fine. there is more things to do to it but thats the basics that everyone else is running(including me) and if he can drive it- he can be just as good as compitition as anyone else in the lite class. they all are about the same as far as racing in that class and lane position and luck of the day is what helps the most. most will tell you that.
